Go to youtube.com on your computer, then find the video that you are wanting to download
Copy the video’s URL, you can do this by selecting all of the text in the address bar and clicking “Ctrl” + “C” (for PC) or “Command” + “C” (for Mac) on your keyboard
Open VLC Player
For a PC: Open the Start Menu and search for “VLC”, then open it
For a Mac: Open Finder > Applications > “VLC”, then open it
If you do not have VLC on your computer, you can download it for free at https://www.videolan.org/
Open a “New Network Stream”
For a PC: Click “Media” > “Open Network Stream”
For a Mac: Click “File” > “Open Network”
Paste the YouTube video’s URL into the field
Click Play (for PC) or Open (for Mac)
If you cannot play the video, first make sure that the VLC Player is up to date
For a PC: Click “Help” > “Check for Updates”
For a Mac:
Install any updates that are available
If you still cannot play the video after updating this method will not work
View the video’s Codec Information
For a PC: Click “Tools” > “Codec Information”
For a Mac: Click “Window” > “Media Information”
Copy the “Location” Field (a long address in a textbox, make sure to copy the entire address)
Paste the copied address into your browser and press enter on the keyboard
Right-click on the video and select “Save Video As”
Re-name the video to what it was named on YouTube
Save the video to the proper Shared Drive (if applicable)
