Tech has a feature in our Google Accounts that allow us to help in a phone emergency. If you lose or have your phone stolen and have this feature turned on we can erase or lock your phone if requested.
To allow this feature you can follow the instructions for Gmail Setup below which includes the instructions for setting up the Device Policy. You can read more about the Device Policy in the Note about Device management Tech Job Aide.
Please Note: If you're a frequent traveler or work in a security sensitive country the Device Policy setup is required.
iPhone Setup
Apple Mail Setup
Follow the steps below to access your vianations account in the default Apple Mail app.
Open the Settings App
Scroll down and Tap Apps
Scroll down and Tap Mail
Tap Accounts
Tap Add Account
Choose Google from the list of options
Enter your [email protected] email
Tap Next
Enter your email Password
Tap Next
Allow Access to Email
We recommend also allowing access to Contacts and Calendar
Tap Continue after selecting the access permissions
Tap Save
You should now see your account in the list of Accounts under Mail
Close the Settings App
Open the Mail App
Confirm your emails are loading
Note: If you have more than one account associated with your Mail app already you will need to tap Mailboxes and choose your Vianations inbox
Gmail Setup
Follow the steps below to access your vianations account in the Gmail App.
Open the Gmail App
If this is not on your phone you can install it from the App Store App
Add Your Vianations account
If you have not signed into any accounts in the App yet
Select Google from the List of Account Options
Tap Continue
Enter your Vianations Email
Enter your Vianations Password
Tap Next
If you are not signed in as your Vianations account right away
Uninstall Device Policy
Follow the steps below to remove the Device Policy from your phone
Open the Settings App
Tap General
Tap VPN & Device Management
Tap Google Workspace Device Policy…
Tap Remove Management
Enter your Phone’s code when prompted
Tap Remove Management again
Remove Account
Open the Gmail app
Tap the account icon in the top right corner
Tap Manage Accounts on this Device
For the account you want to remove from your phone, tap Remove from this device
On the pop-up, tap Remove to confirm removal
Tap Done in the top left corner
Android Setup
As of October 26, 2021, Google has made a change to their mobile management services which requires all Android users to make the following changes on their devices. If you have the old Google Apps Device Policy app installed then you need to do this. This must be done by October 26, 2021.
On your Android device, open the Google Apps Device Policy app. It's probably called "Device Policy".
Tap Unregister. Your mobilization.org work account is removed from the device.
Open the Settings app and tap Accounts.
Add your mobilization.org work account account again using account type "Google".
You will be prompted to install "Android Device Policy".
During enrollment, you must set up a work profile because it's required for Android Device Policy.
Note: If the device doesn't support Android Device Policy, you will be prompted to set up Google Apps Device Policy app instead.
